DANVILLE TOWN GOVERNMENT
Danville is a general-law city operating under the Council-Manager form of government. A five-member Town Council is elected at large to four-year terms. The Council annually selects a Mayor and Vice Mayor from its members.

ELECTED CITY COUNCIL - SIMILAR TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS - CEO STRUCTURE
- Responsible for: legislative functions such as establishing policy, passing local ordinances, approving an annual budget, and developing an overall vision, (similar to a corporate board of directors)
- Serves as the Town's primary legislative body and appoints a Chief Executive Officer, the Town Manager, to oversee day-to-day administrative operations
- The position of "mayor" present in this type of legislative body is a largely ceremonial title, and may be selected by the council from among its members, as in Danville, or directly elected by the voters.
TOWN MANAGER
- Oversees the day to day administrative operations, implements the Town Councils policies, and advises the Town Council. The manager position is similar to that of corporate chief executive officer (CEO), providing professional management to the board of directors.
- Town Manager Joe Calabrigo is the longest serving city manager in the East Bay, serving as Danville’s Town Manager since 1993.
Operating Budget and Capital Improvement Program (CIP)
The 2020/21 Operating Budget and Capital Improvement Program (CIP) allows the Town to continue delivering superior municipal services and fund priority projects in the Danville community. Total revenues of $34.4 million are forecast, with expenditures of $32.2 million.

The Town Council, comprised of the five Councilmembers, is the governing body of the Town, with all the regulatory and corporate powers of a municipal corporation provided under California State Law. All members of the Town Council are elected on an at-large basis for four-year terms.
