DANVILLE, Calif. (September 21, 2023): The Town of Danville invites the community to participate in a public art auction featuring the benches of Bound for Books: An Artful Book Bench Project. The 10 Bound for Books benches have been in different locations around Downtown Danville over the summer, and as the exhibition closes, the benches will be available through an auction with proceeds benefiting future art projects. The benches will be on view at the Village Theatre & Art Gallery patio during a closing reception September 28, with the auction starting September 29.

The benches in Bound for Books are each inspired by various works of beloved literature. All crafted by local artists, the benches have been placed around Downtown Danville and have been beautifying our community since June. The benches will be moved to the Village Theatre patio for a free closing reception with the artists Thursday, September 28 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Online bidding begins September 29 at midnight and runs through October 2. The bidding will start at $500 per bench and is open to the public. Pre-registration for the auction is now available – more information at;

Funds will go toward funding future public art projects for the Town of Danville, and you can register to bid now. Don't miss the opportunity to take home a part of this unique public art project.
