The Danville Community Pianos are back for a fourth year! Two local students were selected through a call for artists to depict their favorite play, book, musical, or song on a painted piano. The original designs for this year's pianos were inspired by musicals The Sound of Music and Hamilton. The two pianos will be on display through mid-October.

| At the Danville Community Center, a piano designed by student artist Jiya Chauhan was inspired by the song "Do-Re-Mi" from The Sound of Music. The book-themed musical, inspired by The Story of the Trapp Family Singers by Maria Augusta Von Trapp ties into the summer's theme of art and reading in Danville. The back of the piano features a silhouette of Maria, the governess who brought a new love of life and music into the Von Trapp household. The piano is also decorated with flowers and musical notes, representing a harmonious life.

 | The hit musical Hamilton served as inspiration for the piano at the Veterans Memorial Building, in front of the Danville Community Center. Student artist Emmeline Millington calls on the lyrics and quotes, including the countdown in French featured as Eliza Schuyler taught her son piano. The pages depicted on the piano each have a different quote from Emmeline's favorite characters in the musical. The piano is finished with the iconic star silhouette on the back, inspired by the musical poster.
