[ARCHIVED] Citizen Police Academy Set for Fall

Citizens Police Academy This Fall

Seven-week program gives behind the scenes look at police

The Danville Police Department is inviting members of the community to take part in the fall Citizens Police Academy.  This seven-week program is designed to provide a look into the day-to-day aspects of law enforcement, and a deeper understanding of how police operate.

Twice per year, the police department holds a Citizen Academy, to help inform the public on the job of a law enforcement officer.  Over the course of the program, attendees will hear from guest speakers on topics such as patrol procedures, traffic enforcement, investigations, and a criminal justice overview. In addition, over two Saturdays the group will have a tour of the dispatch center, a firearms demonstration, tour of the Martinez Detention Facility, driving course, and force options simulator training.

The Academy runs on Wednesday evenings from September 18, 2019 – October 30, 2019. The two Saturday sessions will be on September 28, 2019 and October 12, 2019.

Those interested in taking part in the academy, should reach out to Det. Sgt. Ron Hoekwater at (925) 314-3703 or rhoekwater@danville.ca.gov
