[ARCHIVED] New Exhibition 'Into the Blue' Opens June 28

9th Annual Juried Art Exhibit Opens June 28

Into the Blue features works by 43 artists

The Town of Danville’s Village Theatre Art Gallery is pleased to present its 9th Annual Juried Art Exhibition, Into the Blue, featuring a variety of different works by 43 different artists. Artists from all over California have submitted an array of artwork for this exhibition and visitors can expect to be wowed by this eclectic display of subject matter and materials, all with the common element of the color blue.

To compliment the art exhibition inside of the gallery, Bay Area sculptor artist, Matt Gil will temporarily have his largescale, bright blue, abstract sculpture titled, Pot Luck, on view on the patio in front of the historic Village Theatre and Art Gallery. The sculpture will be on view through December 2019. The artist will also have a smaller abstract sculpture on view inside the gallery for the duration of the exhibition.

About the Juror:

The juror for this year’s exhibition is local artist and art professor, Leo Bersamina. Bersamina was born in San Francisco, California and grew up surfing and fishing on the coast. Early on, Bersamina began studying art and design in Santa Cruz, California. Later he attended San Francisco State University to finish his BA with an emphasis in Studio Art. He received an MFA in Painting at Yale School of Art in New Haven, Connecticut. Upon graduation from Yale, Bersamina lived in New York City until he returned to California to teach

An Opening Reception for the juried exhibition is set for Friday, June 28, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Complimentary refreshments will be served and there will be live music by musicians from The Jazz Room for all to enjoy. The exhibit runs through August 17, 2019. Artwork in the exhibition will be for sale.

The Village Theatre and Art Gallery is open to visitors Wednesday through Friday 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday by appointment only. The Art Gallery is closed on Sundays. Admission is free.
