Joe Calabrigo has served as Town Manager since 1993.
Danville Town Manager Joseph Calabrigo will retire as of June 30, concluding a public service career spanning four decades. During the April 15 Town Council meeting and in an announcement sent to Town staff April 16, Calabrigo announced his retirement and shared appreciation for the Town where he has worked since 1985.
The Town Council first appointed Calabrigo to the Town Manager position in 1993, and he is just the third person to hold the position since the Town’s incorporation in 1982. Calabrigo first joined the Town staff as Chief of Planning, and also served as Transportation Director, Administrative Services Director, and Assistant Town Manager. He played a key role in development of all three of the Town’s General Plans, both Downtown Master Plans, and countless planning documents that have shaped the Town. In his time as Town Manager, he has delivered a balanced budget every year, including through three recessions and one pandemic.
Over his 40-year career with the Town, he has worked alongside 20 councilmembers and 7 police chiefs, and is widely respected for his collaboration and leadership across the region. In his announcements, the 2023 Danville Award winner praised Town staff for their talent and dedication, and noted that the Town Council would move expediently through a process to appoint a new Town Manager.
