[ARCHIVED] Danville Invites Students to Showcase Creativity This Summer

Community Pianos and Student Film Festival

Middle and high school students encouraged to submit films and artwork

The Town of Danville is calling on middle and high school students, including graduating seniors from the class of 2025, to showcase their creativity through two exciting opportunities: the 2025 Student Film Festival and the Danville Community Pianos project.

2025 Student Film Festival

Budding filmmakers are invited to submit original short films for a chance to see their work on the big screen at the 2025 Student Film Festival. The event will take place on August 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Village Theatre & Art Gallery in Downtown Danville.

Films must be 10 minutes or less in length, rated PG, produced on a budget of less than $100, and feature student actors. Submissions must be provided via flash drive along with a completed application by July 11 at 5 p.m. at the Village Theatre & Art Gallery.

Danville Community Pianos

Student artists are invited to design and paint the Danville Community Pianos, a cherished summer tradition bringing public art and music to Downtown Danville. Artists may submit original, full-color sketches of their proposed designs for consideration. Selected artists will bring their designs to life on two pianos, which will be displayed outdoors for public enjoyment from June 2 through Labor Day.

The submission deadline for design proposals is May 9 by 10 p.m., and artists will be notified of their selection by May 16. Painting will take place between May 19 and June 1 at the Danville Community Center and Danville Senior Center. On June 2, the completed pianos will be placed for public display.
