Local Artists Showcase Floral Artwork for 14th Annual Juried Art Exhibition

The Town of Danville announces the opening of the Botanica Juried Art Exhibition, a celebration of nature's beauty through the eyes of local artists. The Town’s 14th annual juried art exhibition will be held at the Village Theatre Art Gallery from July 13 to September 20, and will showcase paintings, drawings, sculptures, and mixed media pieces that explore the intricate and captivating world of flowers.

A free opening reception will be held on July 13 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., where members of the public will have the chance to meet the artists, enjoy light refreshments, and be among the first to view the exhibition.

In conjunction with the exhibition, the Town will host two Ikebana floral arranging workshops on August 20 and September 10 with certified Sogetsu Ikebana instructor Cindy Kiraku Ting. Ikebana is a Japanese style floral arrangement that focuses on creativity and individuality. Participating students will get the chance to learn the techniques of Ikebana and make their own Ikebana arrangement to take home. Registration details are available at www.danville.ca.gov/recguide, and additional exhibition-related activities will be added later in the run.

The Village Theatre & Art Gallery building dates back to 1913 and has been part of the community since its start as the Grange Hall. The building hosts quarterly art exhibitions and numerous live performances annually. The Art Gallery and theatre box office are open Wednesday-Friday, noon to 5 p.m.; and Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Village Theatre Art Gallery is located at 233 Front St., Danville. For more information visit www.danville.ca.gov/arts.
