[ARCHIVED] Volunteers Needed to Lend-a-Hand to Seniors

Social Media Lend a Hand Day

Spend a day helping Danville seniors with yard clean-up.

The Town of Danville is seeking volunteers for the 20th annual Lend-a-Hand Day on Saturday, April 27. Community volunteers can donate their time to provide yard work assistance to their senior neighbors in Danville by raking, weeding, spreading mulch and other assorted yard work tasks.

More than 100 volunteers will help beautify the neighborhoods by providing individual attention to homeowners who may be no longer able to maintain their yards themselves. Volunteers can range in age from teens 12 and older (with adult supervision) to seniors themselves.  No previous yard work experience is necessary. Pre-registration is required so Town staff know how many seniors can be assisted and plan for adequate supplies.

Volunteers for the event will meet at the Danville Senior Center to pick up tools and receive their assignments for the day. Volunteers are assigned to houses based on home assessments made by Danville staff, who determine size and scope of each home project.

Interested volunteers should fill out a volunteer profile and sign up in advance to volunteer by visiting www.danville.ca.gov/volunteer. For more information, contact Program Supervisor Leah Martinez at 925-314-3431 or lmartinez@danville.ca.gov.
