Statement from the Town of Danville Regarding Power Outages:
During recent power outages throughout Danville, we received many requests from residents for clarity on the cause of these outages. While we appreciate that residents understand the Town does not directly manage utilities, we also appreciate that our leaders are able to directly ask for answers from PG&E on behalf of our residents. On August 15, Town Manager Joe Calabrigo sent a letter to the CEO, Senior Vice President, and Vice President of PG&E, via the Town’s Government Affairs representative. The letter outlined the concerns many of you have shared with us, including unpredictable outages, concern for elderly and at-risk populations, impacts on public safety, and general frustration over repeated and unexplained outages. Our residents deserve a reliable power system, and they deserve to be heard when local utilities cannot deliver.
The letter also invited PG&E executives to attend an upcoming Town Council meeting, to discuss the outages and hear from residents. This item will be included on the September 5 Town Council Meeting, and the PG&E Regional Vice President will be attending. We invite the community to participate in the meeting, either in person or via Zoom video link. The agenda will be posted September 1, and the meeting will start at 5 p.m. at the Town Meeting Hall (or online at www.danville.ca.gov/agendas).
