Mitigation Measures for Flood-Prone Areas
Town staff and contractors worked up to and through the onset of today's storm to mitigate impacts throughout the Town. In addition to clearing drainage inlets at Osage Station Park (shown in photo), field crews and engineers worked together throughout the day assessing areas that flooded during the last storm. They identified blockages and obstructions on and near private property, and worked with HOAs and landowners to clear as much debris as possible for efficient water flow. While the Town does not maintain all creeks and drainage within its borders, our teams jumped in to help in partnership with the property owners. Our focus remains on the overall safety of our community.
Teams will continue to monitor the results of these efforts, as well as other creekside areas throughout Danville. We thank the many residents who worked with staff today to assess potential risks on their property, and who made way for contractors removing mud and hosing down streets. This community effort has best prepared us all for the storms overnight.
