Dec. 15, 2021: A new statewide masking order now requires everyone to wear masks in indoor public spaces regardless of their vaccination status.
The state order only applies to local jurisdictions that don’t have their own indoor-masking orders. Since Contra Costa already has a local masking order in place, the new statewide masking mandate doesn’t affect us.
People in Contra Costa, regardless of vaccination status, will have to keep wearing face coverings in public settings. We will continue to allow for controlled spaces not open to the general public where everyone is fully vaccinated, such as offices, gyms and fitness centers, employee commuter vehicles, indoor college classes and religious gatherings.
