At the Town Council meeting on July 6, 2021, the Town Council voted unanimously to extend temporary permits for Danville’s outdoor dining parklets until January 3, 2022. The parklets provide temporary outdoor seating for restaurants and have been a feature of Danville since these permits were made available to businesses in May 2020. Having additional outdoor seating in the parklets has helped restaurants begin to recoup some of the losses caused by the pandemic. Residents and visitors have also enjoyed the atmosphere of al fresco dining downtown and the majority of businesses were supportive of extending the outdoor parklets through the rest of the year.
The Town is currently working on efforts to update the Town's Downtown Master Plan which will provide direction for future development and improvements in downtown Danville and provide opportunities for activated spaces for community enrichment. Expanded outdoor dining opportunities will be one of multiple components to the master plan update effort.
