[ARCHIVED] Red Flag Warning - Sunday through Tuesday

Red Flag Warning Map 2020-10-23

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for East Bay Hills and Valleys which is in effect from 11:00 A.M. Sunday, October 25 to 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 27

Hills: NNE winds, 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 to 70 mph.
Valleys: NNE winds 20-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph

A strong offshore wind event will develop over the greater San Francisco Bay Area on Sunday producing critical to extreme fire weather conditions into at least Monday. Strong and potentially damaging winds will be possible across portions of the region late Sunday evening into early Monday morning before wind speeds begin to diminish. High pressure will bring a warming trend for much of next week with warm days and cool nights as overnight lows drop into the 30s for interior valleys.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. ANY FIRES THAT DEVELOP WILL LIKELY SPREAD RAPIDLY.

  • Please exercise extra caution when grilling.
  • If possible, avoid using lawnmowers, chain saws or other such devices in dry vegetation areas
