Summary of California’s Tiered System for Reopening (PDF)
Town of Danville Update: 8.28.20 - Governor Announces COVID-19 Tiered System
Friday afternoon, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that beginning Monday, August 31, 2020 the state is switching from the current ‘watch list’ to a tiered system for reopening. The new system is based on two local area indicators: the county’s case rate per 100,000 population and the percentage of positive COVID-19 tests.
Currently, Contra Costa County falls within the purple, or most restrictive, tier. The effect this will have on businesses in Contra Costa County is that beginning Monday:
- Hair salons and barbers may operate indoors (with restrictions)
- Indoor shopping malls may reopen at 25% maximum occupancy. Food courts and other public congregation points must remain closed
