To the Danville Community,
As we work to come to grips with what we can/can’t do while under the Shelter in Place order, it is becoming clear that we will need to make some hard changes.
Over the past two days we have received numerous reports of groups of individuals playing basketball, gatherings at play areas, etc. In order to maintain social distancing, and adhere to the shelter order, we are asking the community to curtail these activities.
For our part, the Town will be taking the action of closing the play areas, basketball courts, and tennis courts at our area parks. The parks themselves will remain open, and residents are encouraged to get out and walk, bike, jog or hike. But in order to limit potential transmission of the coronavirus it is essential that appropriate social distancing (6 ft space between individuals) is maintained.
We recognize that this presents a great deal of inconvenience, however under the current circumstances, working to adhere to the shelter order is needed to slow and stop the spread of the virus.
Many residents have taken the shelter order to heart, and for that we are very grateful. Parents, please work with your children to find activities that do not involve groups and gatherings. Please avoid playdates, sleepovers, and parties while the order remains in effect.
This is a challenging time, and one that will be difficult for all. We ask your patience and creativity as we work our way through these next weeks.
