The Town of Danville and RecycleSmart remind residents that residents may leave their trees out for recycling pickup on the week of December 31, 2018 - Jan 4, 2019.
Residents can leave their trees out on the curbside on their normal trash pickup days during that week. As a reminder, due to the New Year holiday all pickups from Tues - Friday of that week will be delayed by one day.
For those residents who miss the Dec 31 - Jan 4 timeframe, a secondary pickup will be conducted during the week of January 14-18, 2019. Residents should have their tree out on the curbside for their normal pickup day.
After January 18, 2019, residents will need to either cut up their tree and put it in the green (organic waste) bin or call Recyclesmart at (925) 685-4711 for an organics-only pickup.
Dos and Don'ts of tree recycling pickup:
Remove all lights, ornaments, tinsel, and trimmings from branches before setting on the curbside.
Leave trees at curbside on the same day as regular pickup during the tree recycling week.
Trees over eight feet in height should be cut in half
Do not leave stands on the trees. Trees with stands will not be picked up.
Flocked trees can be collected curbside for a fee or be included in your once-a-year on-call garbage cleanup but must be scheduled in advance. To set up a time for your flocked treet to be picked up, call (925) 685-4711. If cut to fit within the bin, flocked trees may be placed in the landfill (gray) cart.
