This program is designed to prepare our business community for natural disasters before they happen, but we can’t predict when one will strike. We’re all in the middle of both a global pandemic and wildfires. The Resilient Business Challenge lays out multiple ways a business can mitigate the risks involved with a natural disaster, but two recommendations that any business dealing with wildfires should do right away are:
· Get copies of important records such as site maps, building plans, insurance policies, employee contact and identification information, bank account records, supplier and shipping contact lists, computer backups, emergency or law enforcement contact information
· Review Insurance Coverage: Insurance policies vary, so check with your agent or provider about things such as physical losses, flood coverage and business interruption. Understand what your policy covers and what it does not. Ask about any deductibles, if applicable.
