Development Services

The Development Services Department includes a range of services that significantly affect the physical environment and the quality of life enjoyed by Town residents.  The Department reviews all development applications to ensure consistency with community standards and protection of public health and safety; and ensures that new capital projects are designed and constructed to meet community needs and expectations.  The Department is responsible for the following community-related functions and services:

Permit Center
Manages the Town's Permit Center located at the Town Office.

Performs plan checks, issues building permits, provides building inspection services, and provides building code enforcement services.

Processes all development applications and oversees design review approvals. This Division is also responsible for drafting new or updated Town ordinances and prepares amendments to the Danville General Plan.  In addition, the Code Enforcement function within the Division handles nuisance abatement and code violations concerns.

Reviews all proposed land development projects in the Town, issues encroachment permits, and executes the design and construction of public projects such as streets, parks, and public buildings.

Promotes and enhances transportation mobility and safety within the community, and provides leadership on regional transportation issues.

Capital Improvement Program
Every year, the Town adopts a five year capital budget, known as the Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Separate from the Town’s annual operating budget, the CIP funds public infrastructure projects, including street repair, traffic improvements, civic facility construction and maintenance, and park development and maintenance.
Clean Water Program
Provides management of the Municipal Regional Permit and other requirements for keeping our creeks clean.  This program facilitates meeting the requirements of the Clean Water Act and the Regional Water Quality Control Board.
